1. Rudy’s Country Store & BBQ
Rudy’s Country Store & BBQ, 1020 N Telshor Blvd., was founded in Lone Star State, home to some of the best barbecues in the country. Rudy’s claims his pits are 100 percent oak wood, a slower-burning wood than the mesquite used by others. Over time and oak, the franchise cooks with a dry spice that ensures every plate at Rudy’s Bar-BQ is perfectly ready for you. Open Sunday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

2. Jim Bob’s barbecue
Jim Bob’s BBQ, 1290 Foster Rd., Suite 1, is a local barbecue establishment owned by Jim Robert (Bob) Leon and offers classic barbecue dishes and specially designed sauces. Jim Bob’s BBQ is a must-have for meat lovers who can enjoy a sample plate consisting of pulled pork, minced brisket, sliced sausage and spicy rib meat bites with a tangy flavor and spicy. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

3. Rasco’s barbecue
Rasco’s BBQ, 125 S. Campo St., opened on September 2, 2011, inside a convenience store with a small grill near Highway 70. It has since moved to downtown Las Cruces. Owner Danny Rasco and his daughter Samantha do everything from scratch every morning. Their outdoor barbecue smokes brisket, pulled pork, ribs and sausages for hours a day. Rasco’s offers pickup if you want to eat a barbecue at home on Father’s Day. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and closed on Sunday and Monday.

4. Barbecue at the border
Borderland BBQ, located at 800 Renteria St., unfortunately closed on November 10, 2018, but still provides catering services and pickups and also hosts small private catering events in the restaurant. Want your dad to try Borderland BBQ? It offers pickup and catering if you want to eat at home. Working hours are Thursday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The beloved barbecue venue announced in February that it would reopen soon.

5. Ranchway barbecue and Mexican cuisine

When it comes to barbecue, for Ranchway, it’s smoked mesquite. Ranchway offers four meat options: brisket, pork, sausage, and ribs, serving both beef and pork ribs. Ranchway offers a variation of barbecue dishes. There are beef or pork and brisket, sausage and pork burrito sandwiches. There are also barbecue plates: either a choice of sausage, brisket, ribs or the combination plate that accompanies the three meats. Open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

BBQ cooking in the backyard
If you don’t feel like taking dad to a restaurant, the Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) is hosting a backyard barbecue and Cornhole tournament on Saturday, June 15, the proceeds of which will be donated to the New York Special Olympics. -Mexico.
Special Olympics athletes and local celebrities will serve as preparation judges. The public is invited to the free one-day event which will include refreshments, activities and DJ Mike Gamboa will provide music.
Las Cruces Codes Enforcement will also offer a bicycle safety course for children. As in all city parks, alcohol is not allowed during the event.

Registration for the cornhole tournament will begin at 9 a.m. that day and the tournament will begin at 10 a.m.
