Baked pork chops aren’t so tasty after a night in the fridge. They become dry and leathery and less appetizing. Once reheated, they are inedible.

Today I use leftover pork chops to make a delicious barbecue that can be served in a bun or on thick sliced ​​bread. Since the chops are leftovers from another meal, I’m going to make a homemade barbecue sauce to add to the sliced ​​meat.

What’s exclusive to my most modern spicy barbecue sauce is that I use pickle juice instead of regular vinegar. I also use sriracha powder and cayenne pepper flakes to put a little spice on each piece.

Using a cutting board and a knife, cut the pork chops into thin slices. Now place the sliced ​​meat in a pan and add enough water to the pan to cover the meat. Simmer the meat over low heat while you prepare the barbecue sauce.

Ingredients for the homemade barbecue sauce

  • 12 ounces of tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons of ketchup
  • 1-½ cup water
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 3-4 tablespoons pickle juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey or molasses
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1-½ teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1-½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper flakes
  • 1-½ teaspoons sriracha powder
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring

BBQ Sauce Instructions

In a medium sized pot, add all the above ingredients, place the pot on the stove and simmer for fifteen minutes. Stir frequently. (Add more water if the sauce is thicker than you prefer.)

Next, add the sliced ​​meat and dollops of barbecue sauce to a skillet, coating the meat with as much sauce as you prefer. Cook for an additional five minutes. Serve the meat on thick sandwich bread or rolls. Serve and enjoy!


I like to toast buns or slices of bread. This prevents the sauce from soaking. I also like to prepare coleslaw to add on barbecue meat.

Place the remaining barbecue sauce in a mason jar and cover with a lid, then place it in the refrigerator.
