CP Coworking recently opened in Old Courthouse Square in historic downtown Crown Point.
People can rent workspace in the Chase Building’s shared office at 115 S. Court St.
“We are a shared office concept with private offices and an open-plan workspace environment,” said owner Kate Lunn. “There are 11 private offices and a total of approximately 3,400 square feet.”
Most of the private offices have been rented out, but there is still plenty of coworking space left with high-speed internet, printing, a work email address, and shared secretarial services, with a full-time assistant working from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Week.
The office, however, is accessible anytime, whether you’re burning midnight oil, needing to print important documents, or having a business meeting in the conference room. .
“It’s membership based,” Lunn said. “It could be a day trader who rents it for $ 25 a day or a monthly subscription for $ 99 a month. Everything is flexible.”
Private offices can be rented for a minimum of three weeks at a time.
“We have the self-employed and a few start-ups,” she said. “It should appeal to the type of commuter who, before COVID, traveled to town for work but still wanted corporate and professional conditions. Our target market is people who commute to Chicago five days a week but don’t. now do that twice a week, week, or people who work from home and want a place to go, plus we have after school tutors.
Lunn was inspired by We Work, the national company with coworking space in Chicago and other major cities. It could open more locations in the future.
“The space kind of spoke to me,” she said. “I thought it was perfect. I went to the We Work workplace in Chicago and felt Crown Point needed something like this, especially since people are working more remotely. “
CP Coworking is also building a podcasting studio with professional recording equipment that could be rented out to anyone looking to stream a podcast.
“I just want to make it part of the community,” she said. “We would love to have conferences where people listen to a conference and learn something or a member does a presentation. We just want to give something back to the community.”
People can register to rent space there online or by calling 219-769-0733.
