Silver Spur in Elm Grove is worth the trip to get some good benchmarks.

The restaurant was originally established in 1991 on Barker Road, but a fire in 2009 forced the restaurant to move to its current location on Watertown Plank Road in Elm Grove. Owner Frank Hornick took over the business in 2005.

This Texan-style barbecue restaurant serves St. Louis ribs, beef brisket, pork, chicken, turkey and a great hot sausage.

“All of our ingredients are made from scratch and we have daily specials including BBQ sliders on Mondays,” says Hornick. “By far our most popular sandwich is our ‘Juicy Q’ made with chopped beef brisket. It is the only meat that simmers directly in barbecue sauce.

They serve the ever popular beef brisket, pork, and chicken, but they also have corned beef and make a superb barbecue jalapeño cheddar sausage. They even have a barbecue pork pizza which has grown in popularity. Baby back and St. Louis ribs are served daily from 5pm until sold out.

Customers can choose from six different barbecue sauces that they can apply to the meat at their table. All of their spices and sauces are homemade and are gluten free.

Big Daddy O’s barbecue
