Stop the heresy of drowning ribs in barbecue sauce. There are cheaper cuts of meat that you can use as a delivery system for barbecue sauce. Maximizing the flavor of ribs is the goal of this year’s Savor the Flavor BBQ Rib Recipe Contest, presented by Festival Foods with assistance from the Fox Valley Technical College Culinary Program.

We collect recipes for sauces and marinades from the masters of the Wisconsin coasts in the best possible way. With bait. The winner will have $ 300 in Festival Foods groceries and 10 squares of baby back ribs to throw on a new Weber Performer Deluxe charcoal barbecue. (This is pretty much the grill I wish I had in my backyard.)
To win the grand prize, your recipe must first qualify for the final, as determined by chef Jeff Igel and his FVTC culinary team. They will select up to eight finalists. Selected recipes will be prepared by FVTC staff and students to be judged by a panel of experts.
You have until May 24 to submit your recipe. We’ll be sharing the best of the best recipes starting June 9 on our USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin media sites.
